Carmen G. Pérez is an actress, songwriter, visual artist, filmmaker, former singer and a U.S. Army Veteran (formerly known as Carmen Perez & is not the activist). She was born in Bronx, New York and raised mostly in Puerto Rico. At 17 years old, she joined the U.S. Army active duty for six years. After being stationed overseas and in Washington, D.C., becoming a Sergeant by the age of 21, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Government and International Politics with a minor in Legal Studies at George Mason University, she moved to Hollywood to pursue an acting career.
Until very recently she had been using her name Carmen Perez. Suddenly people were confusing her with other public figures using the same name. After trying adding her husband's last name to Carmen Pérez Røsnes for the past year, she has decided to go back to her roots and simply add her middle initial.
As a singer/songwriter, Carmen released a Latin-Jazz/Neo-Soul Fusion EP, "The Art Of Love," in November 2017 (with great reviews by Jazz Reloaded and The Smooth Jazz Ride blogs) & a pop EP “Space Girl” January 2017 w/great review by KMS Music Blog (as Carmen Perez). An instrumental chillout/lounge music piece “Pajarito,” she co-wrote/co-composed with British producer Matt Powell was featured in the Café Del Mar ~ Dreams 9 album, released October 31, 2016. She has had hits on Billboard's Top 40 Hot Dance Club Play & Top 10 UK Commercial Pop Charts, “Emergency” & “Overload”, and UK chart topper, the Super Stylers remix of “Run Little Devil.”
As an actress, Carmen most recently has recurred as Captain Vasquez on the Robert Rodriguez/Mark Burnett TV series “Lucha Underground.” After living in Norway for a year now, she has worked on her first Norwegian TV series, which premieres this fall 2018 on TV Norge, "Det Kunne Vært Verre." She has over 60 acting credits and won Best Supporting Actress by the Valley Theatre League Artistic Director Achievement (ADA) Awards for the play “Soldiers Don’t Cry” in 2003.
As a visual artist/painter, Carmen has been acclaimed for using bold edges and vibrant colors and is continuously inspired by her visions, Latin background and world travels. She has exhibited her artwork in California and sold artwork on both the United States & internationally, including art commissions.
